What You Will Need:
• 3 different colors of yarn (you can use whatever yarn you want, but I recommend worsted for this tutorial. I will be using scrap yarn similar in color to the Circle to Square project border.)
• Recommended crochet hook for yarn used (I will be using a 5.00mm H crochet hook)
• Pair of scissors
• Yarn Needle
Abbreviations:
• sc = single crochet
• st = stitch
• ch = chain
• st ch = stitch chain
• dc = double crochet

Instructions:
Pattern Note: This border needs to be worked with a multiple of 3 on each side plus a remainder of 2, plus your corner stitches for it to work correctly.
Foundation
Sc in the same color as your project, all the way around on all sides.
(For the example imagery below, I crocheted 2 rows of 32 sts (30 is a multiple of 3, added two for the remainder) to represent my “project” and then added a third row of sc sts to represent my base round.)

Round 1: Sideways Puff Stitch
Begin 1 st to the left of a corner st in your project.
Ch 3 (counts as first dc), *sideways puff stitch, skip 1 st, [dc in next 2 sts, sideways puff stitch, skip 1 st]. Do this all the way to the next corner st. (2 dc, sideways puff st, dc) in corner st, dc in next st.*
Repeat from *to* all the way around your project. Omit the last dc, join with a ss to your first dc.

Round 2: Single Crochet
Ch 1, sc in each dc and sideways puff st all the way around your project. Place 3 sts in each corner puff st, join with a ss to first sc.

Round 3: Sideways Puff Stitch
Ch 1, sc in each dc and sideways puff stitch all the way around your project. Place 3 sc in each corner puff stitch, join with a ss to first sc. Fasten off and weave in ends.
