The octagon granny should measure around 5 inches depending on hook size and yarn used. I will be using worsted yarn with a 5.00mm (H) crochet hook.
What You Will Need:
• 1 or more different colors of yarn (I will be using scrap worsted yarn that I have collected over time, but you can use anything you want!)
• Recommended hook size for the yarn you use (I’m using a 5.00mm H hook)
• Pair of scissors
• Yarn Needle
Abbreviations:
• ch = chain
• ss = slip stitch
• tr = triple crochet
• st ch = stitch chain
• sp = space
• sc = single crochet
• dc = double crochet

Instructions:
Foundation
Ch 7, join with a ss to first ch to form a ring.
Round 1:
Ch 5 (counts as your first tr and ch 1).
[1 tr, ch 1] – repeat 14 more times into foundation ring, join with a ss to fourth ch of beg ch 5 st ch. (You should have 16 total tr stitches inside of your foundation ring.)

Round 2:
(If using more than 1 color, join second yarn color to any ch-1 sp.)
Ch 1, 1 sc in the base of the ch-1 you just created, ch 2,
[1 sc in ch 1 sp, ch 2] – repeat 14 more times, join with ss to first sc.

Round 3:
(If using more than 1 color, join third yarn color to any ch-2 sp.)
Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 1 dc in base of ch-3 you just created, ch 1,
[2 dc in ch-2 sp, ch 1] – repeat 14 more times, join with a ss to top of st ch.

Round 4:
(If using more than 1 color, join your original first yarn color to any ch-1 sp.)
Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 1 dc in base of the ch-3 you just created, ch 3, 2 dc in ch-1 sp, ch 1,
[2 dc in ch 1 sp, ch 3, 2 dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1] – repeat 6 more times, join with a ss to top of st ch.
Tie off and weave in loose ends.
