Ecru White Washcloth Collection – Set of Two Beginner Washcloths

Happy Friday Everyone! ?

After a week of traumatic stomach bugs, Banjo getting neutered and bridesmaids/wedding dress planning (YES! I finally found my wedding dress everyone!), I am finally back with some new goodies!

You can bleach white things right?

So if you’ve been following, a week or so ago I added the Violet-Lilac Collection (Set of 3 Washcloths) and I was over the moon about how soft they were for my poor sensitive skin. Well, this time, I have something a little bit more sturdy that I decided to try out! I ran into Mama in A Stitch’s free pattern for a Bath House Spa Crochet Washcloth and I LOVED the texture of the pure white washcloth. Not to mention, you can bleach white things right? I’m always cleaning up messes after the doggo (and myself!) and sometimes you just gotta bleach it, ya know?

Ecru White Collection

So I grabbed some of my favorite Sugar n Creme 100% Cotton Yarn in Ecru (see what I did there with the name huh? huh? ?) from my local JoAnn’s store and went to work. Let me tell you, I LOVE this pattern! Not only does it look beautiful & elegant, but it’s durable and gets the job done. I may or may not have scrubbed my 19-week-old boxer doggo with one of these and he LOVES to play in the dirt! Let me tell ya!

[EDIT: I now have the Ecru White Washcloth Collection over on the SHOP and you can view the listing HERE.

The Goods

Typically I try and stay pretty close to the original pattern, but I did make a couple of changes to better fit my needs which you can read about below.

• 1 skein of 100% Cotton Sugar n Creme in Ecru (I can make about 2 and a half of these washcloths with the basic 120yd skein).
5.00mm (H) Crochet Hook
Scissors
Ruler
Yarn Needle

What You Need To Know

This is a great pattern for a beginner looking for a bit of a challenge or for a crocheter looking to break out of their comfort zone a little bit! All you need to know is how to single and double crochet! That’s it!

The original pattern makes a 6″ x 6″ washcloth and I wanted on a little bit bigger than that (I have big hands ?) so I decided to add on an extra “cluster” to the pattern to make the washcloth have a finished size of 8.5″ x 8.5″ (including the border). For every extra cluster that you want to add or subtract from the pattern, you just need to add or subtract 3 chain stitches. (Example: For the original pattern, it calls for a foundation chain of 23 stitches. I wanted to add one more “cluster” to the pattern, so I made my foundation chain 26 stitches instead. If I wanted to add a second extra cluster, I would chain 29 stitches in my foundation chain and so forth.)

I also added a single crochet border around the entire washcloth to add to the size as well, but this can easily be left off. The original pattern does not call for one. For the corners, I made 3 stitches in each corner.

There are actually quite a few good notes about where to put specific stitches on the original pattern and I definitely would recommend you check it out and try this beautiful washcloth pattern for yourself!

Know of any other great washcloth patterns that I should try? Send em my way in the comments!
